How could you determine an effective eulogy speech? Would it be the longest or the one that has the deepest meaning? Would it be the speech that is professionally composed? Would it be the eulogy that contains several memorable stories with the deceased? Or simply the one that radiates the greatest amount of love and respect the speaker is revealing in each of the insights and stories that he or she narrates? Perhaps it’s hard to decide.
First, what are the things that are supposed to be incorporated in a eulogy speech? A eulogy should first give a brief introduction of how the speaker is connected with the person who died. A little background on how you met, etc. It is important because the relationship between the speaker and the one who passed away would usually determine the flow of the speech. Second, it should give an idea to the public or the listeners how the deceased lived his or her life. Then, you can narrate certain memorable stories or words of wisdom that the deceased shared with you. Then you can explain how, in one way or another the deceased has touched you or inspired you. If you have some important messages that you feel you need to impart or express to your dearly departed, his or her family member or relatives, this would be a perfect time. Words and promises left unsaid could also be expressed in the eulogy speech. Your plans for the future could also be added.
Definitely at this trying time in your life, recalling past experiences with the person who passed away would make you feel more miserable and depressed. But to be able to write an effective eulogy speech, you have to be able to dissect the most significant or special memory that you had with the person who died. So it is important that you are already gently accepting the loss and starting to move on. How can you do this? You know yourself, if you are one who easily recovers if you lull yourself with tears then so be it. If you are the type of person who would want to have a quiet time with him or herself then do it. If you are the type who needs someone to talk to so you can vent the emotions your then go ahead find someone who cares and who will listen. We are all different, so no matter how we are able to cope up with the loss, what is important is that we gain enough strength after the loss so we can continue or go on.
After getting your control back, you can then start composing your eulogy speech. Start by expressing your emotions, in writing, then recall past experiences and lessons you’ve learned, include plans of you would run your life after. Go over your composition then you can rearrange. You will be amazed at how words will pour in spontaneously, that’s because of the amount of love and dedication your putting in.
